Kaieteur News – Ten year-old USA based Guyana sprinter Alpha Harrison, who has been excelling there since migrating, is set, ready and confident of medaling at the Amateur Athletic Union Junior Olympic Games which would take place in Houston Texas from July 28 to August 7, 2021.
The former Mocha, East Bank Demerara resident who attended St. Agnes Primary School had won the Fastest Kid in the World Boys 55m Dash at the Armory Track and Field Center, New York 200m Banked Track in February last year when he clocked 8.18 to win the 8 and Under event.
His exploits among his peers even at this tender age is well documented and according to his dad, Lindon, young Alpha is elated to be attending this year’s Junior Olympics.
“Alpha had qualified for the 2019 edition of the Junior Olympics in the 100m and 200m events but was not able to attend due to financial challenges. This time around, he has qualified for the 100m event and we are determined that he would make it this time so we are working hard to ensure that he makes himself and Guyana proud.”
The senior Harrison informed that they have received some assistance form Alpha’s school, PS 115 in Brooklyn New York.
The young Harrison said, “I like to thank God for like, I’d like to thank God for the ability to run and I am excited to be part of the Junior Olympic Games this year.”
