Kaieteur News – The bread vendor who allegedly stabbed and killed a fellow vendor, “Channa Man,” during an argument last week was yesterday remanded to prison for the offence.
Forty-six-year-old Kimbia James Prescod called “Bow Life” and “Moon Light,” appeared in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts before Chief Magistrate, Ann McLennan.
He was not required to plead to the indictable charge which alleges that on June 22, 2021, at Stabroek Market, Georgetown, he murdered Robert Bizzeth called “Brick” and “Channa Man.”
The Chief Magistrate remanded Prescod to prison and the matter was adjourned to July 29, 2021.
This publication had reported that on the day in question around 16:30hrs, Prescod and Bizzeth had a heated argument over the placement of Bizzeth’s stall. It was reported that during the argument, Bizzeth allegedly drew a ‘jucker’ and threatened the other vendor. However, the bread vendor retaliated by pushing Bizzeth to the ground and armed himself with a knife. The police report further stated that the argument continued between the two men, and Bizzeth then armed himself with an axe and chased after the suspect who was still armed with the knife.
Kaieteur News had reported that the suspect fell to the ground and Bizzeth stopped chasing him. While Bizzeth was walking away, the bread vendor allegedly stabbed him several times about his body.
The mortally wounded Bizzeth ran to the police mobile outpost where he fell to the ground and was later escorted to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) where he died while receiving treatment. Anti-crime patrol later arrested the bread vendor at Camp and New Market Streets, Georgetown.
