Kaieteur News – Guyana’s Emanuel Archibald had a tough going in the 100m but found some success in his pet event, the men’s long jump to cop a consolation bronze at the Bahamas Athletics Association (BAAA) National Senior and Junior Championships which is underway this weekend.
Archibald finished third in his 100m heats with a disappointing time of 10.56s, which is nowhere close to his personal best. Last weekend, he ran a +2.6 wind assisted 10.18s to cop Guyana’s national title and just a month ago, he was crowned the second fastest man in South America after copping his first silver medal at the 2021 South America Senior Championships which was held in Guayaquil, Ecuador.
The Lindener, who holds Guyana’s long jump record, then found redemption with a half decent jump (by his standards) of 7.63m to finish third in his favourite event. He finished behind winner Laquan Nairn, who had a best jump of 7.96m and Holland Martin that reached a distance of 7.87m for second.
