Kaieteur News – The Ministry of Health (MoH) yesterday revealed that four persons, who tested positive for the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) disease, have died. As a result of this, the country’s COVID-19 death toll now moves to 458.
According to the Ministry, the latest fatalities are that of a 58-year-old man from Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne), an 85-year-old woman from Region One (Barima-Waini), an 81-year-old woman and a 54-year-old woman both from Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica).
All four persons died over a two-day period June 22 to 23, while receiving treatment at a medical facility.
Further, the Health Ministry in its daily COVID-19 dashboard recorded 206 new cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of confirmed cases to 19,565. Out of the total confirmed cases, 10,004 are women and 9,561 are men.
The dashboard also revealed that 18 patients are in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 112 persons are in institutional isolation, 1,572 are in home isolation and nine are in institutional quarantine. To date, a total of 17,405 persons have recovered from the virus.
