Kaieteur News – Churches play a vital role in fostering social cohesion, peace and other aspects of community development that are essential to nation building. As such, the role of the churches in the development of society cannot be overlooked. It is with this perspective that the Zion Ministers Network (ZMN), a new Christian Ministers fellowship, will be launched on Sunday June 27.
Under the theme “Serving, Supporting and Shepherding,” ZMN is set to host a grand launching ceremony at the Special Miracles Ministries Royalty Centre at Lot 203 Freeman Street, East La Penitence, Georgetown.
The launch will follow two nights of meetings at the same venue. The finale and ceremony will feature worship from Psalmist, Timothy Roberts, with special appearance from contemporary Christian dancer, Rachael Balack and appearances from other distinguished guests.
This newspaper understands that the new ministers’ network will provide a platform for leadership training, as well as support and service to churches, ministers, the community and the nation as a whole.
Its founding members include Archbishop Dr. Wingrove David Babb, Dr. Amy Babb, Bishop Terrence Esseboom and Prophet Neville Williams, are ministers, all of whom share more than half a century in leadership roles and have earned the distinctions in their individual capacities in the faith.
According to Archbishop Babb, the network was formed following several formal discussions and meetings were held about the need for an “umbrella organisation” which will represent the interest of the churches and the people.
He explained that “we have long recognised the need for a network to represent the interest of the churches in the nation. The church as the representation of the body of Christ must be seen as a neutral entity —one operating in the interest of the people and one which is free from any outside influences.”
In this regard, Archbishop Babb emphasised that Zion Ministers Network is open to enlisting like-minded ministers and churches who are interested in combining efforts and resources to develop and execute initiatives on a grand scale.
In this regard, Dr. Babb said that the organisation aims to, inter alia, foster partnerships for church and community development activities; enlist church leaders with the same vision for development and nation building; to collaborate to reach out to rejected and underserved communities; to provide training for leadership in the churches – to impart knowledge and provide tangible support in the collective pursuit of nation and kingdom building.
