Dear Editor,
After reading this story, ‘Two remanded for robbing, assaulting Land of Canaan woman,’ in which you stated that two men were charged with the offence of robbery under arms, to which they pleaded not guilty, I wondered why they were only charged with one offence when there are several offences being committed at the same time:
1) Impersonating a Police Officer.
2) Home Invasion
3) Assault with a deadly weapon
4) Possession of Illegal weapon
5) Robbery
I am most curious why the perpetrators were only charged with one of the five offences. Can the Department of Public Prosecution please explain to the Guyanese public why they have chosen to take this path in their prosecution of this case?
Yours truly,
Dennis Balgobin
