Kaieteur News – A Venezuelan gang member is currently behind bars on remand after he was charged on Monday for the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition. The defendant was identified as Junior Jose Garcia Ferrier, 39, a member of the Guerilla, a criminal gang based in Venezuela.
Ferrier appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court before Chief Magistrate, Ann McLennan. It is alleged that on May 13, 2021, Ferrier was found in possession of an illegal Glock 19 pistol along with two magazines and 22 live matching ammunition.
He pleaded not guilty to both of the charges and was remanded to prison until June 14, 2021. According to reports, Joint Services patrol ranks had intercepted Ferrier with the illegal weapon while he was in a boat in Guyana’s water in the vicinity of San Martin.
