Kaieteur News – The case file with advice on a Dangerous Driving Charge for motorcar driver, Triston Belle, has arrived in Bartica and Police Commander of the district, Dion Moore, confirmed that it is expected that he will appear in court on Friday.
Kaieteur News was informed by a reliable source that the file arrived in Bartica, Region Seven, earlier yesterday and was handed over to the relevant investigators who were instructed to prepare a Dangerous Driving Charge for Belle for court on Friday.
Belle, the driver of a motorcar PRR 6473, had allegedly struck down a 12-year-old pedal cyclist, Jaheemanuel Wyatt, around 17:25 hrs. on March 8, along Fifth Street, Fourth Avenue, Bartica. The child reportedly sustained injuries to his head and other parts of his body.
His father, Charles Wyatt, had gotten frustrated that the case file with legal advice was taking too long to return from Georgetown and had contacted Kaieteur News. Charles had told this newspaper that his attorney had notified him on May 10, 2021, that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Chambers had written her. In the letter the DPP wrote that it had advised that the investigators can go ahead and charge Belle with the recommended charge of Dangerous Driving and had returned the file to the Guyana Police Force since April, 7.
After Kaieteur News had reported Charles’ issue, it was established that the case file was delayed at the Traffic Headquarters located at Eve Leary, Georgetown. The Traffic Chief, Ramesh Ashram, had explained that the delay was because of the location of Bartica’s district. He said that ranks from “far out” districts do not travel to city every day and can only uplift case files when they are in Georgetown.
