Kaieteur News – Arising out of its monthly meeting held in April, the Mackenzie Sports Club Management Committee has announced that its Annual General Meeting and Biennial Elections are slated for Sunday, May 30, 2021 starting at 15:00hrs at the MSC’S Main Pavilion.
It was also decided that there will be an Ordinary Members Meeting set to take place on Sunday, May 16, at 16.00hrs. The Management Committee’s last Monthly Statutory Meeting will take place on Thursday, May 20 from 17.00hrs.
The release reminded that only financial members will be eligible to participate at those meetings for which a quorum comprises 50 percent of members. It was also pointed out that the MSC Rules and Constitution informs under the following: “MSC rules and constitution article 6, membership, criteria (f) Cessation of rights of Members.
Where the subscription or any other payment or fees payable to the MSC is outstanding for three months, such member shall cease to enjoy the rights and privileges of membership until such arrears are paid in full.”
Further, arrears of three (3) months shall cause the membership to cease after a full investigation.” Meanwhile, Avery Trim is the incumbent President of the MSC and Joseph Chapman is the General Secretary of a ten member body.
Last year, Honourable Charles Ramson Jr., Minister of Culture Youth and Sport was approached and on behalf of Government committed to making the Mackenzie Sports Club, one of three multipurpose facilities in Guyana. Meetings were held and discussions are ongoing for which the Government of China has been identified to fund this massive project.
The architect has visited the site and a concept drawing is being done, which is to be presented for approval by the MSC Committee of Management. Based on a change in the MSC Constitution in 2017, the Regional Democratic Council of Region 10 (Upper Demerara/ Upper Berbice) and the Linden Mayor and Town Council each has a representative who sits on the MSC Committee of Management, to have a clear understanding of how it functions.
The last Annual General Meeting and Biennial Elections of the MSC took place on June 30th, 2019.
