Kaieteur News – The Everest Cricket Club yesterday became the latest entity to support the Fruta Conquerors Football Club’s 2021 Concacaf Caribbean Club Shield campaign.
Drawn in Group C of the tournament, set to start April 23 in Curaçao, Fruta Conquerors will face Hope International (St Vincent and the Grenadines) and Racing Club Aruba.
Speaker of the National Assembly, Manzoor Nadir, who is also the Everest Cricket Club’s president, made the presentation of $100,000 to Fruta Conquerors president, Colin Gittens, while expressing his delight in helping the country’s Elite League champion on their quest for regional club football success.
Gittens thanked Nadir and the Everest Cricket Club for “lending a helping hand to a club in need.”
Only recently the club launched a GoFundMe campaign to seek the generous support of football fans in Guyana.
It was stated that the club has a minimum working budget of G$5 million to cover their preparation for and participation in the tournament, including the cost of training and travel.
The GoFundMe campaign, which enables fans from all over the world to contribute with any size of donation to the team’s Club Shield journey via a secure online payment platform, can be accessed at: https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-fruta-conquerors-in-the-caribbean-shield.
