Kaieteur News – A select East Coast U-17 team again made light work of DCC in a 30 overs cricket rematch on Wednesday evening at the DCC ground.
East Coast chose to bat first on a track which aided bowling and were soon wobbling with the loss of three wickets for 26 runs after 10 overs. Chaitram Balgobin (29) and Ajay Gainda (9) then steady the innings with a 34 runs partnership. Thereafter DCC continued to make inroads with Inderjeet Nanan grabbing three quick wickets.
At 81 for eight, all-rounder Hemraj Hariprashad then struck 41 not out (6×4, 2×6) and dominated a 48 run partnership to take his team to a challenging 129 runs. Romeo Deonarine and Inderjeet Nanan took three for 21 and 34 respectively.
In reply, DCC loss wickets at regular intervals and were eventually restricted to 110 from their 30 overs. Jonathan Vanlange (30) and Wavell Allen (27) were the principal scorers. Hemraj Harripersaud returned with the ball to take 2 for 9 from 4 overs and was well supported by Neeraj Bani and Chaitram Balgobin with two wickets apiece.
