DEAR EDITOR,
I have noticed that the Ministry of Health has advised that “Coastland Diagnostic Centre” is approved/authorised to conduct PCR testing.
As far as I am aware, the PCR test is no ordinary test. It requires special equipment and a lot of training to perform it accurately.
The public has never heard of Coastland Diagnostic Centre. Is it certified by the Guyana National Bureau of Standards (GNBS)?
GNBS is the local certifying body and if this lab is not certified by them, then they are hardly likely to be able to perform the PCR test. I look forward to details of Coastland Diagnostic Centre being published by the papers.
Who owns it? Who is the Lab director? Who is the Quality Manager, etc.? Where were the staff trained?
Yours in public interest,
Sarah Williams
