Kaieteur News – A 26-year-old woman is now dead, following a fatal accident on the Hibernia Public Road, Essequibo Coast, yesterday afternoon.
The deceased woman has been identified as Simona Williams, a resident of Good Hope, Essequibo. At the time of the accident, Williams was with her boyfriend, Terry Samuels, a traffic rank presently attached to the Suddie Police Station.
Sometime around 11:30 hrs. yesterday, the couple left for Anna Regina in motorcar, PMM 5509. While returning home, an argument ensued between Williams and her boyfriend. According to reports reaching Kaieteur News, the woman reportedly grabbed hold of the steering wheel during the argument, and pulled it to the left. Samuels then pulled it back to the right, which resulted in the vehicle losing control.
The car then collided with motorcar, PPP 4196, which was parked on the eastern parapet of Hibernia Public Road. According to police, Simona received injuries to her left wrist, and was taken out of the car by public-spirited citizens. She was then escorted to the Suddie Public Hospital and was pronounced dead on arrival. The body is now presently lying at hospital’s mortuary, awaiting a postmortem examination, while her boyfriend has been placed under close arrest, assisting with investigations.
