– Steal clothes, cologne gift set, fans, sound system
Kaieteur News – It seems that a gang of burglars might be targeting churches in Linden, after three were vandalized between Tuesday and Saturday last week. Missing from the places of worship are amplifiers, speakers, electric fans, a cologne gift set and several pieces of clothing.
The members of the respective churches had turned up to clean the buildings at different hours on Saturday when they discovered the items missing.
The first to be discovered burglarized was the McKenzie Baptist Church, located on Wismar Street, McKenzie.
Members arrived around 6:30Hrs and noticed that a window in the washroom area was removed. Upon further checks they realized that keyboard power cord valued $5000 along with a bag which contained several pants and shirts were missing.
The members told police that the church had to be burglarized sometime after 20:30Hrs on Friday evening.
They recalled that there was a choir practice on Friday which ended at that hour. Everything was intact and the building was secured and locked-up before the choir members went home.
The second church, Prayer Worship located at Lot 6 Crabwood Street, McKenzie, was found burglarized around 08:45Hrs on Saturday. Missing were six electric fans, an amplifier worth $30,000 and two five-inch speakers valued at $30,000 as well.
It is believed that burglars may have entered the building sometime after 19:00Hrs on Thursday, at least this is according to its members who said that they had visited the building that day for a prayer service and had left everything in its place.
The third church, according to police was the Flourishing Place Apostolic Ministry Jubilee Center located at Richmond Hill, Mackenzie Linden. This church was found vandalized around 09:10Hrs.
Its members told cops that they found a window and a door located on the eastern side of the building vandalized.
