Kaieteur News – Arch rivals Albion and the Rose Hall Town Namilco Thunderbolt Flour teams would clash in the long awaited final of the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) Elizabeth Board under21 tournament today 6th of March at the Area H Ground.
The match starts at 930am and is expected to be a close encounter as both teams are very strong on paper with a lot of talented players.
BCB PRO Simon Naidu stated that the tournament started in 2019 and the final was set for March 2020 but the start of the Covid 19 pandemic forced the organisers to push it back. After obtaining the permission of the sponsor, the new date and venue was decided in consultation with the local representative.
Rose Hall Town Namilco Thunderbolt would be without the service of their Captain Kevin Sinclair, who is on international duties with the West Indies and would be led by West Indies Under19 player Kelvon Anderson. He would receive support from Keith Simpson, Slyus Tyndall, Junior Sinclair, Mahendra Gopilall, Jeremy Sandia, Jonathan Rampersaud, Chanderpaul Govindan and Tyreese Sealey.
Albion would be led by former national youth player Adrian Sukwah and among the other players expected to play are Sarwan Chaitnarine, Mahendra Chaitnarine, Gourav Ramesh, Kelvin Umroa, Antonio Fredericks and Jeetendra Autar.
BCB president Hilbert Foster stated that the BCB had eight finals to play off from the suspended 2019/2020 season and is seeking to play them off by the end of April as the board has plans to host about thirty five different tournaments in its 2021 season. The 2021 under21 tournament would start shortly after the current final and would be played on a knockout format with about twenty teams.
