Kaieteur News – Two drivers, who were on Monday caught by mobile patrol ranks driving under the influence of alcohol, will appear in court on February 25 to face charges.
According to police, the men, Kemraj Cecil, 30, and Troy Stewart, 42, were stopped sometime after 18:00 hrs. by ranks while driving their respective vehicles along the Number 78 Village Public Road, Berbice, Region Six.
Cecil was at the time operating a ‘Pitbull’ minibus when he was pulled over. Realizing that he might be under the influence, ranks administered a breathalyzer test and it was found that his breath alcohol content (BAC) was 122 micrograms above the legal limit.
Stewart on the other hand was driving a motorcar when he was stopped. Like Cecil, the ranks suspected that he was drunk and conducted a breathalyzer test on him the results of which was a BAC of 167 micrograms. Both men were detained and charges were prepared for them.
