Kaieteur News – Four persons are now in custody for allegedly robbing and shooting a businesswoman in front of her Subryanville, Georgetown home.
According to the Commander of Division ‘4’ A, Khali Pareshram, four suspects along with the suspected getaway car were nabbed, while investigation into the matter continues.
Selena Edwards, 50, was robbed just around 16:20 hrs. on Saturday while in her yard.
One of Edwards’ neighbour’s who witnessed the incident, told police that he heard the woman shouting “which bag, which bag.” After hearing that the man further told police that he heard two loud explosions, which he suspected to be gunshots. The neighbour said as he looked over to Edwards’ yard, he saw someone running from Edwards’ vehicle, which was parked on the parapet in front of her house and enter the back seat of a black wagon motorcar that was parked some distance away. The perpetrators then escaped with $200,000 in cash.
Edwards who received a gunshot wound to her left thigh, managed to drive herself to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) where she was seen and examined by a doctor. The 50-year-old was admitted in the Accident and Emergency Department for further medical attention.
