Dear Editor,
I am messaging you on behalf of my colleagues, trained teachers from the 2016 and 2017 batches of the Cyril Potter College of Education (CPCE) to shed some light on a problem, which we have been facing.
Teachers who graduated from CPCE 2016 and 2017 cohorts are not being paid their correct salary for the past four plus years. Initially, our salary used to be approximately $8000 short monthly – presently, it’s close to $13000 short monthly. Over the years, we have made countless trips to the Regional Education Offices, the Teaching Service Commission, and the Ministry of Education.
We heard countless promises of our salary situation being rectified. It was supposed to be rectify last month, then this month. Every month we are hearing the same promise. Presently, we are very disappointed as we are heading into another year with a defective salary.
Yours truly,
Pre-service teachers of CPCE
