Kaieteur News – A shot-filled 72 from Omesh Danram led Movements Family of Mahdia to a five-wicket victory over Team Corruption when the teams collided in the final of Ministry of Amerindian Affairs T20 Tapeball cricket competition on Sunday last at Durban Park.
Raydon Austin made early inroads picking up three quick wickets to reduce Team Corruption to 24-3 after they opted to bat. However, Travis Fung and Nizam Khan added 78 for the fourth wicket to repair the early damage. Khan hit four sixes before he was bowled by Ricardo Adams for 33 off 15 balls.
Fung continued to play his shots and put on a further 73 for the fifth wicket with Carlos La Rose. La Rose made 32 off 19 balls with four sixes, while Fung was taken off Adams after hitting two fours and four sixes in a top score of 68 off 52 balls as Team Corruption made 189-9. Austin claimed 3-27, Adams had 3-48 and Ricardo Poloram 2-39.
Movements Family lost Adams early in the chase, bowled by Ricky Sergeant for three, but Andrew Gibson and Danram steadied the chase well with a second wicket stand of 101.
Gibson was caught off Nicholas Persaud for 27 of 27 balls with two sixes, however Danram continued to time the ball well and added 46 for the third wicket with Paul Tyrell before Tyrell was bowled by Ntini Permaul for 20 off 16 balls with a solitary four.
Danram struck three fours and seven sixes before he was run out for 82. Ryan Adams with 14 not out saw his team home as they finished on 192-5 in 17.4 overs. Permaul took 2-52.
On Saturday, Movements Family beat South Side (duckworth Lewis method) after rain intervened at Meten-Meer-Zorg ground. Batting first South Side made 77 all out in 18 overs. T. Mohabir scored 27 with two fours and two sixes, while Ricardo Poloram captured four wickets and Raydon Austin two. Movements Family were 66-3 when the rain came. Paul Tyrell and Rajkumar Singh were not out on 18 and 11 respectively. Ricardo Adams made 15 and Ershad Ali 11.
