For the third successive year, the Pele F.C. Alumni in association with the Lions Club of Georgetown, Durban Park which is led by President Carol Parris brought early Christmas smiles to the faces of 140 children between the ages of 3-14 when the Christmas Walk in activity was held.
This year’s activity was held following the strict guidelines and measures as outlined by the Ministry of Health and the National Task Force as a result of the covid-19 pandemic.
Whilst being curtailed, the happy children and their parents made the trek to the Ruimveldt Lions Club, Festival City to collect their gift bags which included educational and recreational items. Pele F.C. Alumni stated that they will continue to focus on education of the youths as it empowers them to live a successful life.
Among the educational items were Amazon Tablets, crossword puzzles, monopoly, draught sets, dominoes along with personal items for teenagers both males and females.
Both entities expressed delight at being able to team up once again to empower the youths and senior citizens in some small way.
Present to assist and facilitate a smooth flow of activities on Saturday last were nineteen (19) members of the Lions Club of Georgetown, Durban Park.
Meanwhile, on Sunday, residents of the Uncle Eddie’s Home were the focus as they received personal hygiene items compliments of the Pele F.C. Alumni whilst also benefitting from their Home and Christmas tree being decorated for the Festive Season by members of the Lions Club of Georgetown, Durban Park.
On a regular basis, the Lions would donate curtains and decorations to Uncle Eddie’s apart from cleaning and fixing the home so that the residents can feel appreciated and be comfortable.
