Kaieteur News – Despite the ongoing Covid 19 situations the Blairmont Community Centre Cricket Club (BCCCC) of Blairmont, West Bank Berbice, recently held their annual awards ceremony.
The activity was held at the Big B Business Complex at Rosignol, West Bank Berbice.
A number of members were rewarded for their outstanding performances and other sterling contributions during the year.
Walking away with the award of player of the year was Kevon Jawahir. National Under-19 all-rounder Seon Glasgow Jr copped the youth player of the year award. National U19 players Marvan Prashad and Nigel Deodat copped awards for being best batsman and best bowler respectively in that category.
The T20 player prize went to Zammer Nazeer, while Javed Karim got the nod for being the club’s best all-rounder. Deodat also copped the award for best bowler of the club.
The most improved batsman award was shared by Nazeer and Prashad.
Taking the award for the most improved bowler is Chris Harry, while Glasgow and Prashad shared the award for the most disciplined player.
Deodat received another as the second division player of the year.
Also receiving awards were in the U15 category- Raashad Gafoor for the best batsman, Sajjaad Ishmael best bowler and Romeo Deonarine best all-rounder, David Deonarine most improved player, while Razam Koobir was adjudged the most disciplined and the most promising in that category. In the U17 category, Satyah France was adjudged the best under-17 batsman, while Andy Tageraj was adjudged the best bowler, Randy Rupnarine the best all-rounder and Altav Balman the most disciplined.
Special awards were given to Waqar Hussain as one longest-serving and most committed member’s while a special prize went to youth player Anthony Sukra.
Speaking at the ceremony President Shabeer Baksh encouraging those gathered to continue being disciplined and aim for the stars.
Baksh also thanked a number of sponsors including those from in Guyana and overseas for their continued support over the years.
