Kaieteur News – Fisherman Masters’ Skipper Hassan has lauded his players’ efforts for their win in the recently concluded Georgetown Softball Cricket League (GSCL) Inc Prime Minister’s T20 Cup 4.
Fisherman Masters edged Wellman Masters by three runs on Sunday last at the Everest Cricket Club to take the over 45 title.
They were largely indebted to opener Keith Fraser who smashed 178 as they posted 240-4. Wellman Masters responded with 237-5 with Greg De Franca scoring 108 and Troy Lewis 87.
Hassan said his players supported each other on and off their field and they didn’t take any team for granted. “The final was a tough game, Wellman Masters were chasing well, but our players never gave up. We were always confident and the players stood up well,” he added.
Fraser copped the man-of-the-match and most valuable player award and Hassan said he laid the foundation for their success. “Fraser can be very destructive and he showed what he is capable of on Sunday. He played an excellent innings and we just had to support him. Greg (De Franca) and Troy (Lewis) batted well too, so it was an excellent final.”
Hassan has expressed gratitude to their sponsors, Payless Variety Store, Star Party Rentals, Satrohan Sookdeo and Rockaway Group of Companies.
