Kaieteur News – Mix Up maintained their consistency as they stormed to victory in the final of the Samantha Vickiere dominoes tournament which culminated on Sunday night last at Favourite Sports bar, Meadowbrook.
Phantom took as early lead in the final, followed by Executive, but Mix Up recovered well to establish a sizeable lead before taking the title.
Phantom chalked up 15 games, while Executive and Mix Up made eight apiece in the opening round. Phantom continued their dominance in the second sitting, scoring 14 games to take their total to 29 while Executive managed 13 to finish the sitting on 21 and Mix Up made 10, taking their tally to 18.
Phantom and Executive marked 13 games each in the third sitting to take their total to 42 and 34 respectively, while Mix Up scored 15 to take their total number of games to 33. Mix Up proved too good for their opponents in a crucial fourth round as they chalked 17 games to carry their total to 50, while Phantom and Executive made 10 and six games respectively to finish the round on 52 and 40 games in that order.

Mix Up took the lead in the fifth and penultimate round as they marked 12 games to finish that sitting on 62 games, while Phantom mustered six games to take their score to 58, while Executive scored 12 games to finish the sitting on 52 games.
Mix Up made 14 games in the sixth and final sitting, taking their overall points to 76. Executive also managed 14 games and Phantom eight; both teams finished on 66 games each, but Executive took the runner up spot after making more sixes.
Wayne ‘Harry’ Griffith, who is also a football referee, made the maximum 18 games for the winners, while Ganesh Sankar scored 17. Ariel O’ Oliveira top scored for Executive with 14 games, while Selwyn Prescott and Rawle Peters contributed 12 and 11 respectively.
Orin Sandy scored 14 games and Theon Ambrose 11 for Phantom. Griffith was named man-of-the-match. The competition was sponsored by overseas based Guyanese Odessa Primus. (Zaheer Mohamed)
