Kaieteur News – In a story headlined ‘Poverty forced Joshua Edward to give up cricket’ in yesterday’s edition of the Kaieteur News, it was mistakenly reported that Edward received $700,000 and a laptop computer from the late Pastor Amanda Williams Scholarship fund for his winning essay. The sum received was in fact was US$700.
The 22-year-old St Lucian, born to Guyanese parents, sells pizzas to pay for his fees at the University of Guyana (UG) due his lack of finance.
He has been an inspiration and a beacon of hope with his determination to find a way to pay for his studies since migrating to Guyana two years ago.
