Kaieteur News – The Guyana Police Force High Command and all the subordinate officers in the East Berbice Corentyne met with representatives of the community policing groups (CPGs) in the Region yesterday. The main purpose of the meeting was to discuss issues relating to crime and security strategy in the region.
In attendance were Region Six Commander, Superintendent Jairam Ramlakhan; Deputy Commander, Superintendent Allister Roberts; Second in Command of No.1 Sub Division, Inspector Marlon O’Donoghue; Officer in Charge of No. 2 Sub Division, Superintendent K. Wilson; Officer in Charge of No.3 Sub Division, Assistant Superintendent S. Laljit; and Human Resource Officer, Chief Inspector Althea Solomon.
Opening remarks were given by Commander Ramlakhan who welcomed those in attendance and thanked them for coming.
He took the opportunity to highlight the purpose for the engagement, noting that the CPGs can play a vital role in the solving of crimes and other illicit activities and providing security in the various communities. Several concerns highlighted by the members, were addressed by the Commander and team.
At the end of the meeting, members of the community policing groups thanked the officers for the engagement and promised to work diligently to enhance the work of the CPGs in the Region.
