Kaieteur News – Sherwin Murray, called “Chest” 38, an ardent sports personality and a popular figure of Bengal (No. 43) Village, Corentyne, Berbice, died on Tuesday evening following an accident with a lorry.
Police are investigating the fatal incident which occurred about 22:10 hrs. on the No. 47 Public Road.
Information revealed that Murray was riding his motorcycle, CG 612, about 22:10 hrs. on Tuesday 10th November on the No 47 Public Road, Corentyne, Berbice. Murray was proceeding north on the western carriageway when he apparently lost control of his motor cycle and collided with the front of the lorry which was parked on the parapet. The lorry, GNN 9131, is owned by Balram Singh of Lot 182 ‘B,’ No. 47 Village.
It was reported that following the collision, Murray sustained injuries to his head and other parts of his body and was left lying on the bike. He was subsequently picked up and taken to the Skeldon Public Hospital by ranks from No. 51 Police Station where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Murray is the son of popular community activist and sports personality, Linden Murray. The body is presently lying at the Skeldon Hospital mortuary awaiting a post mortem examination.
