Kaieteur News – Police are now trying to locate a driver who fled on Saturday after hitting down a 14-year-old pedal cyclist along the Annandale Public Road, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
The teenage boy is presently at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) in a critical condition. According to a police report he was struck down at around 23:45Hrs in the vicinity of a tyre shop.
Investigators reported that the teen and his friend heading east along the inner lane of the northern side of the road when a car struck him from behind. The impact flung the boy some distance away where he fell onto the road surface. Instead of stopping to render some assistance, the driver of the car continued his journey.
Public-spirited citizens picked up the boy in an unconscious state and rushed him to GPHC where he was admitted. The teen suffered multiple injuries to the head and body including a fractured skull.
