Kaieteur News – The Dr. Yesu Persaud Clinical Education Centre which will serve the University of Guyana (UG) and medical programmes at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) was yesterday officially handed over to the Government of Guyana.
The Centre located on the south side of the GPHC compound facing Thomas Street, was declared open by President Irfaan Ali in a simple COVID-19 restricted ceremony.
In a press release sent out by the Department of Public Information (DPI), the building is described as a three-level, 20,000 square feet structure with a usable roof terrace.
It was detailed that it took three years to construct and has been made a reality by the kind gesture of Dr. Yesu Persaud who committed G$215M towards its construction and was backed up with another $30M from the government. The facility is said to have enough space for administrative and faculty offices, classrooms, conference rooms, dry labs and skills training labs.
