Dear Editor,
I dare say, the days of any member of the two main racial groups in Guyana believing that because of their race, they, as a group, are entitled to be at the helm of the Government, are absolutely over.
That is old-school thinking, OVER. Priorities are shifting to the here and now and the future. For past administrations, that were tagged correctly or incorrectly; as solely representing one race, how did the entire population benefit? Historical racial grievances as it specifically relates to why a particular group should be at the helm of government, is over.
Ancient history. That singular vision is frankly self-defeating, in the world that we live in now.
Constantly revisiting memory lane and looking in the past is part of who we are, but then, when we are so locked in to that same racial past, and can’t see beyond that era, we remain mentally stuck, in those days of decades ago.
History is history. Most of us are interested in the present problems and focusing on more pressing issues to resolve collectively – Today. And there are many in Guyana. Our expectations levels are higher. Talk the talk is expected, but walk the walk is even more important.
Yours truly,
Chi Kansi
