Dear Editor
My name has featured regularly in Freddie Kissoon’s daily column. Kissoon has shown that he would stop at nothing when it comes to character assassination in his columns which for the most part are a combination of political gossip, libel, fiction, and venom against those with whom he disagrees. His Monday October 5 column was a classic example. In that column he reports a conversation with me about a fictitious incident. He spoke of an exchange between Professor Clive Thomas and then President Granger at a meeting that I attended. No such exchange between the two men ever occurred at that meeting. I had no such conversation with Kissoon. I am 100 percent confident that a perusal of the transcript of the meeting would bear me out. But that would be of little interest to Kissoon whose political analysis rests largely on “he say, she say.”
This is not the first time Kissoon has used our personal friendship as cover for his creation of fictitious stories about and libel of me and others. What an abuse of personal friendship and the public privilege of a daily column! The longest rope has an end.
Yours truly,
David Hinds
