A construction worker, 23, on Saturday had his shin bone broken during a fight he reportedly started with a mason.
Nursing the broken shin bone is Devon Ally of La Parfaite Harmonie, West bank Demerara.
According to police reports, the brief altercation between Ally and the mason who hails from Westminster, a nearby community, took place at around 21:30hrs.
Investigators were told that Ally was riding along the La Parfaite Harmonie roadway on his bicycle when he saw the mason with whom he had a dispute three years ago.
Ally reportedly hopped off his bike, parked it and approached the mason. He exchanged a few words with the mason and then put up his hands to fight.
Police stated that the mason armed himself with a wood. However, this did not deter Ally and he proceeded to kick the mason.
In retaliation, the mason dealt Ally one blow to the right leg and ran away.
Ally fell to the ground and could not move, he had to be picked up by a passerby and rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital.
There, doctors discovered that Ally had sustained a broken tibia (shin bone) and admitted him.
The matter was later reported to police and the mason was later arrested.
