Police say they are investigating the death of Keith Scipio, age 69 years, an engineer of Lot 12 Kissoon Scheme, Good Hope, East Coast Demerara.
The death occurred around 11:30hrs at Lot 112-113 Happy Acres, another village along the East Coast.
Police said that they learnt that Scipio left home and went to work at the construction site where the four-storey steel and concrete building was being built.
About 10:35hrs, he held a meeting with all the workers on the fourth floor, after which everyone went back to work.
Subsequently, the deceased was observed walking towards a hole, which is located at the centre of the building and he “fell through downwards to the bottom”.
One of the workers, who witnessed the incident, and who had tried to alert the deceased to the danger but was unsuccessful, raised an alarm.
He went to the bottom floor where he saw the deceased lying motionless on the concrete surface of the ground in a pool of blood and with injuries to his head.
The body was picked up and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) by co-workers, where he was pronounced dead by a doctor on duty.
Police said that investigation are in progress.
