A Neighbourhood Democratic Council (NDC) Councillor woke up yesterday only to find that his Hyde Park, East Bank Essequibo (EBE) home was burglarized.
Investigators believe that the thief/thieves entered the councillor’s house between the 01:15 to 02:05hrs.
The councillor, Phillip France, 72, and his wife, Sheila France, 68, had secured their house just before 01:15hrs and retired to bed.
However, at around 02:05hrs, France’s wife, Sheila, woke up and entered the living room to check the time.
While in the living room, Sheila noticed that several louvre panes were missing from one of the windows.
She alerted France who joined her immediately and noticed that an access door on the lower flat was also ajar.
Upon investigating what transpired, France soon realized that his 48” flat screen television valued at $300,000 was missing. His mountain bicycle worth $18,000 was also gone.
