Last week Sunday, August 23, 2020, Lions Clubs of Guyana – Region 2 provided COVID-19 relief to families living in Chateau Margot Sideline Dam.
Hampers with essential food items and disinfectants were presented to more than 15 households that occupy the Dam. One of the residents reached out via the District’s Facebook page requesting assistance.
As the world continues to grapple with the pandemic, Lions Clubs in Guyana have been reaching out to communities they serve by providing COVID-19 relief in the form of hampers, preventative measures (distribution of face masks, installation of sinks, etc.) and provision of medical supplies for the at-risk population.
Clubs in Guyana are a part of a global team – Lions Clubs International – which is the world’s largest service club organization with nearly 1.4 million members in approximately 48,000 clubs in over 200 countries and geographical areas around the world.
To date, Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) has provided 340 COVID-19 Relief Grants valuing US$ 5,179, 492. Guyana is a recipient of one of these Grants which has boosted the Ministry of Public Health COVID-19 response with the acquisition of several computer systems and PPEs for the purpose of contact tracing.
