Dear Editor,
With the Covid-19 numbers going out of control, there are certain things in my opinion that need to be looked at by those in charged. Firstly the GPF must be commended for the job they did at Mary’s Bar in Crane and Khan’s Hide Out on the East Coast. Similar approach should be taken by other police stations around the country. Secondly, why is it that persons are still not wearing a mask in public?. I think this should be strictly enforced. Lastly, when the minibuses could only carry two persons in a seat there has been minimal increase in cases, but now they are given the go ahead to carry 75% of passengers that the buses has been insured for. There are two problems with this, (1) there is no social distancing in these buses and (2) most buses are carrying a full load and even overloading. I think my last point is the single largest factor that has to do with this high number of new cases in Guyana. I there asking that those who are in charge put the necessary regulations in place so that passengers travelling with public transportation especially minibuses have some sort of distancing between each other.
Yours truly,
Ricardo Persaud
