– post mortem report
A post mortem conducted on the body of 40-year-old Collis Joseph of Lot 114 Ithaca Village, West Coast Berbice revealed that he died from a stab wound to his liver.
On Sunday police arrested Joseph’s 18-year-old son Rashane Joseph in the Ithaca backdam after he hurled a cutlass at his father during a heated argument; the weapon pierced the older man’s upper body. The police said that the victim did not die on the spot but rather threw back the cutlass at his son before collapsing. He was rushed to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital where he subsequently succumbed to his injury.
Kaieteur News was informed that the autopsy was performed by Pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh at the Memorial Garden Funeral Home Mortuary, Le Repentir, Georgetown, yesterday morning. At the conclusion of the examination, the cause of death was given as perforation of the liver due to a stab wound. The body was handed over to the deceased man’s sister for burial.
