Dear Editor,
Now would be a good time to privatise State Media (Guyana Chronicle and NCN). The government of President Irfaan Ali does not need its own media outfit to tell them they looking good or to aim propaganda at the people. We have seen how the state media can be used to distort the truth. What the government needs is free and impartial media to hold it accountable and should cherish when the media is doing so. We’re building on the gains of democracy to leave better institutions than we inherit from our predecessors.
Yours truly,
Sean Ori
