Citing that Walter ‘Boyd’ Moore is always an ambitious individual be it on or off the football field, President of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Wayne Forde is not at all surprised that the former ‘Golden Jaguar’ defender has made the transition to the technical segment of the beautiful game.
Flashback! Walter Moore during a coaching session with U-17 national players back in May of 2017 at the #5 ground, WCB.
Moore who retired from the sport for good in January of 2020 had retired from the game after ten successful years of playing from Under-15 and at every level thereafter back in 2016. He had decided to come back to the sport after chatting with another former national defender and buddy, Charles ‘Lily’ Pollard who encouraged him to come back and assist the youngsters who needed guidance, and he readily acquiesced.
His love for the sport was already showing signs then of a transition to coaching as he made a trip to Guyana back in 2017 with FF Jaro Head Coach, Kristian Heames; the two were on a talent spotting trip to Guyana.
He had also participated in some coach sessions with the National Under-17 team then and is just continuing with his unending love for the game at another level.
GFF President, Wayne Forde commented on the move by Moore: “Walter Moore is making an intelligent transition, we don’t expect anything less of him, he has always been an exemplary individual on and off the field. We wish him well in his Coaching journey and hope that over time, it will bring him full circle to Guyana’s football.”
Moore of course is relishing the day when he would be able to come back to these shores to give back and compliment the GFF’s forward thrust in the field of coaching which is one of the Federation’s main pillars in building a solid foundation and platform for the game.
