A 44-year-old supervisor attached to Ansa McAl was on Friday granted bail after he was charged with the attempted murder of his partner.
Julius Arthur of Lot 293 ‘B’ Field, Sophia, East Coast Demerara, was arrested on the July 14, 2020 and was dragged to the Fort Wellington Magistrate Court before Magistrate Rabindranauth Singh to answer to the charge of attempt to commit murder on Devlin Garraway.
The accused was not required to plea and was granted bail in the sum of $100,000.
The case was postponed to the August 14, 2020.
Devlin Garraway, 28, was reportedly shot to her neck/jaw area by Arthur during an argument at the woman’s Number 30 Village, West Coast Berbice residence.
The father of the victim had told this publication that his daughter and the suspect once shared a relationship but had separated.
However, the suspect, reportedly, was still turning up at Garraway’s home.
Such a visit happened on the day in question and an argument ensued during which she was shot. Garraway was subsequently rushed to the Fort Wellington Hospital and transferred to the New Amsterdam Hospital.
The father disclosed that the victim had confided in him that she broke up with the suspect because he grew very abusive towards her. She is said to be recovering slowly.
