One great concept has taken on the challenges of the day in the midst of confusion, stress, and uncertainty…golf in the city!
Nexgen Golf Academy, conveniently located on Woolford Avenue in the heart of the city, in collaboration with the Scouts Association of Guyana, has created a peaceful oasis that conforms to the COVID-19 social distancing guidelines.
The Academy features an international standard driving range with target greens, chipping, putting green (under construction), coaching for all levels and ages and fun team building for your company’s employees.
Planned improvements include picnic tables under the trees, with service of food and snacks from several top providers and with lights soon to be added, the Academy is expected to be the place where everyone who plays or is interested in learning the game will meet and of course as always, golf is the absolute best networking activity.
Since its launch two weeks ago, more than 75 persons whom had never played golf have visited and been wowed by the experience. Interestingly enough, the majority of new players have been women and children and it has become the workout spot for people who cannot get to a gym.
Comments range from “I’ve always wanted to try”, “this isn’t as easy as it looks” and “what a great workout” with rave reviews about the level of service, coaching and professionalism being offered (the Academy is open daily from 6 am-6pm, until the curfew is lifted).
“We plan on hosting the first event that is compliant with social distancing guidelines wherein every hour, 20 players can participate in shooting for points and the winners will receive $100,000 in cash and prizes on a weekly basis,” said Rudy Ramalingum, the Academy’s director.
The prizes will be sponsored by different companies and will create a fun sporting activity that anyone can participate in and still be safe.
When visiting the Academy, persons are encouraged to learn about history of 100+ years of Scouting in Guyana from Chief Scout Andrew Ramcharitar or President of SAG Ramsay Ali and can donate or sign up to become a Scout if they have an interest.
