Dear Editor,
This concerns the Richmond Hill Playground which is located in Linden. I am a resident of Richmond Hill located in Mackenzie and this is a quiet neighbourhood where residents are not confrontational.
This community playground I must say is owned by NICIL but has always been earmarked historically as the playground.
On the plan it is stated as an open space. The playground has been unused for a number of years. Recently I noticed in the news that NICIL is selling lands around Guyana but I didn’t expect them to sell a community playground. From the knowledge I have, I know this is totally wrong as the land should be used for that purpose alone and not for housing.
At this time an individual is erecting a structure to edge of the playground and on inspecting the playfield there are survey markers at different locations on the field. Some residents are very concerned about this development but no one wants to come forward so I have chosen this avenue for I do not have the resources to challenge legally at this point in time. I have attached a picture of said playground and structure being erected.
