Dear Editor,
I refer to the full-page advertisement, which was carried in your Tuesday, 16 June 2020 edition on page 2, which, inter alia, reproduced the Caribbean Community’s (CARICOM’s) Logo.
Our records do not indicate that any application by the Kaieteur News or any other entity has been made for permission from the Secretary-General to use the Logo. The use of the Community’s Logo in this advertisement is therefore unauthorised.
As published, the advertisement is misleading as it would easily lead one to believe that it was placed by the Community or its Secretariat.
I request that this disclaimer be published in the next edition of your newspaper. I trust that there would be no repetition of this unauthorised use of the Community’s Logo, in this or any other form, going forward.
Yours truly,
Leon Robertson
Communications Advisor
Office of the Secretary-General
Editor’s Note – Our apologies for having neglected to exercise due diligence on the artwork provided by a third party. All future versions of the advertisement will be absent the CARICOM Logo.
