Dear Editor,
Mayo Robertson’s letter in your June 10th edition, ended with the following words, “how could GECOM….. include votes that are clearly not valid”; referring to the ballot boxes with missing documents.
But I say to him, be a Sherlock Holmes and use logic and deductive reasoning. For starters, ask yourself these questions:
1) Most, if not all of those boxes without documents were from PPP/C strongholds and of course PPP would win handsomely in these districts. Would the PPP/C be so stupid then to tamper with these ballot boxes from areas where their win is guaranteed overwhelmingly?
2) Which party stands to gain if these boxes without documents from the PPP/C stronghold areas are not included in the tabulation? You know that answer, right?
3) How could one invalidate those overwhelming PPP/C votes from these ballot boxes? One way of course, is simply by not putting the relevant documents in the ballot boxes.
4) Did you know that the presiding officers and the DRO said that instruction came from the clerk of Mr. Mingo’s office to not include these documents in the boxes? It seems likely that this instruction was only for the GECOM officials from those PPP/C stronghold areas. And of course you are fully aware of the saga of Mr. Mingo’s fraudulent declarations. Which party do you think is benefitting from Mr. Mingo’s Illegalities?
5) If GECOM says that it does not have these document, then the police should be called in to arrest those presiding officers for still having GECOM property in their possession. Do you think the POs still have those documents?
6) The ballot boxes at the end of counting at each polling station are supposed to be secured and have some kind of GECOM seal. If at the recount, the ballot boxes have not been found to be tampered with after sealing from the polling station, then it means that despite the missing documents, it contains genuine and valid votes from voters in that area.
Yours truly,
Anand Narain
