Golden Jaguars; Guyana men’s senior football team, duo of Curtez Kellman and Jeremy Garrett are back in the ‘land of many waters’ after being stranded in Miami, Florida, USA, for four months.
The lads, who are both student-athletes, were stuck in Miami due to the necessary travel restrictions for incoming passengers at Guyana’s ports due to the coronavirus pandemic but after the National Covid-19 Task Force (NCTF) approved 300 persons, they were in the first batch of Guyanese that returned home on Sunday afternoon.
The ballers, along with the first batch of 109 passengers will head straight into isolation for one week as part of the agreement for return which also included having their Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test results for the coronavirus before travelling.
In an invited comment with Kaieteur Sport, Kellman shared that he felt, “Overwhelmed with joy to be back home especially in this time where the world is facing this serious pandemic and it’s especially good to be the around family so we could can support each other emotionally.”
The midfielder further posited that he is grateful for the help and support he received from those around him, while in Miami and for those here in Guyana that kept him in their prayers.
He explained that the NCTF have been very thorough and so far he has received a call each day from a representative to see if he is developing any symptoms of covid-19.
The GFC player hinted that as most of the world of sport has laid out plans for return to play, head coach of the Golden Jaguars, Marcia Maximo, may be looking to resume some form of training sometime in the very near future.
