Dear Editor,
The prevailing COVID-19 pandemic has demonstrated, for me at least, the sincerity of many companies. I make this statement against the background against the steady cry of many workers seeing their pay cut as they and their families face difficulty and hardship. While I will refrain from stating names, many of these well-known enterprises boast of their Corporate Social Responsibility but fail to remember that charity begins at home. They sadly forget that their successes and massive profits over the years came from the efforts of the very workers who they are now treating so shabbily. I heard the basis of their actions is to preserve their enterprises. I see that as a weak explanation and the reality is they are seeking to protect their profits at the expense of their workers. This is indeed a sad time for thousands of workers and their families.
Yours truly,
Liebert Alleyne
