DEAR EDITOR,
I am writing concerning the above subject. I am very happy that the authorities are bringing home stranded Guyanese. But on the other hand, I am very sorry for some who cannot pay $200 to do the COVID test and in some areas, the test is not done there.
From what I have been reading , I learnt that even one may test negative today, and they can be tested positive tomorrow and vice versa. Although one tested negative and boarded the plane, when they arrive in Guyana, they can be tested positive.
In this regard, I am humbly pleading with the authories to please allow all the stranded Guyanese to return to Guyana and then be tested.
However this testing can be done at the airport using the four mobile testing units. The passengers can be sent home to be quarantined at their respective home for the 14 days until the results are available.
When the authorities get the results, they will then be in a position to take the necessary actions to deal with those who are positive, which I am certain that none would prove to be positive.
I am quite certain that the airline are doing high temperature test and if any passenger is found with fever, the airline would stop them from boarding.
Once more, I am begging for my fellow Guyanese to come home, and be tested at home.
Thank you,
Concerned citizen
