DEAR EDITOR,
The APNU-AFC, from all indications, is proverbially clutching at straws. Like a drowning man, it is resorting to all manner of chicanery to convey the impression that the PPP/C is up to some ‘mischief’. How else can one explain the ridiculous assertion of some ‘private’ meeting between two representatives of the PPP and a staff from GECOM’s Information Technology Department? The fact that the allegation was debunked by no other than the Public Relations Officer of the Guyana Elections Commission, Ms.Yolanda Ward, appeared not to have any sobering effect on the part of the APNU-AFC which continue to peddle this misinformation ad naseum.
This accusation would have been considered a joke were it not for the implications it can have on the integrity of those against whom the allegations were made. Even more surprising is the prominence given to it by the State media, namely the National Communications Network (NCN) and the Guyana Chronicle.
The good thing is that Guyanese are much more discerning than what they are given credit for by the APNU-AFC and their so-called spin-doctors.
As the recount continues, the nation can look forward to much more episodes of this nature, regardless how frivolous or hilarious they may be.
