Shakes father who is Guyanese and his mother, Trinidadian, commented on his international career for Guyana.
“I would like to thank all the management team and all the members of staff around the Guyanese team and the federation. All the players I’ve played alongside and against. To the fans: the game isn’t the game without you. And being part of history beating Trinidad to qualify to the next stage was one of the best highlights of my career. A million thank yous for your unconditional support. I look forward to sitting in the stands cheering on the next generation of Guyana football, so stay safe and God bless. On to the next chapter, Ricky Shakes.”
