This is not a joke. There is an adjective of Algonquian origin by the name, Mingo. Please go to Webster’s third new international dictionary, unabridged – the 1976 edition. It is on page 1438. I think this was the last edition, but I could be wrong. On that page you will find the adjective, “Mingo.” It means, “treacherous”.
Could we speak of Clairmont Mingo’s mingo conduct on March 4 at the GECOM command centre, when he became Mandrake and began to read out the statements of poll for Region 4 that did not exist?
Well, one person who thinks so is Khemraj Ramjattan.
Ramjattan gave an interview to Kaieteur Radio in which he made an incredible indictment against Mingo. Because of what Ramjattan said, it would not be inaccurate to see Mingo’s conduct as mingo.
Mr. Mingo has become a joke in Guyana. Countless folks refer to him as mango. The satirical column in this newspaper, Dem Boys Seh, refers to Ramjattan as Rum Jattan. Then there is the COVID-19 autocrat who Dem Boys Seh refers to as “Nagga.” That is Nagamootoo.
Dem boys are laughing at Nagga and have nicknamed him COVID-19 tyrant. The COVID maan wanted the high level CARICOM team and the international observers to spend 14 days in quarantine at the Marriott Hotel, and we were told they have to foot their own bill.
The COVID maan wanted a team from the Ministry of Health (oops, sorry, make that Public Health) to follow the CARICOM folks and the observers all over the Convention Centre when they are observing the recounting, to see if they are observing the required physical distance in keeping with COVID-19 restrictions. But here is the thing. Dem boys want to know who is watching the COVID-19 maan to see if he is observing the social distance requirement, because dem boys seh the maan is all over the place.
Anyway, let’s get back to Rum Jattan’s description of the mingo action of Mingo
Mango, Rum Jattan and the COVID-19 autocrat are graphic expressions of disintegration inside APNU+AFC. On Tuesday, Ramjattan told his interviewers on Kaieteur Radio that he does not accept any declaration so far by GECOM and wants to see a complete recount. Psychosis is deepening inside the corridors of power.
I don’t want to come over as light-hearted, but I lived under President Burnham’s rule and by the time he died in August 1985, I honestly think the crises in Guyana had overwhelmed Burnham and he lost his marbles. Burnham in 1984 was saying strange things and behaving weirdly, not to mention he found solace in the bottle, rather than doing what all sane people do – get a lovely pet and love it obsessively. Well it seems the little Burnhams in the PNC and AFC are losing their marbles.
It was just last Sunday, the AFC column in the Kaieteur News asserted the victory of APNU+AFC. Two days after that publication, Ramjattan says he does not accept any declaration so far on the elections and would only embrace a total recount. In March, Ramjattan appeared on Kaieteur Radio, just about an hour after I left the studio, and he emphasized the victory of APNU+AFC. Three times in the media, the AFC declared that APNU+AFC won.
If Ramjattan does not accept any kind of declaration so far, then he is basically saying Mingo is a mingo man, because Mingo has made two declarations to date. One was made on March 5 at Ashmin’s Building and handed to the Chief Election Officer (CEO) who was about to officially declare the results in favour of APNU+AFC. Then on Friday evening of March 13 at GECOM head office, with projector, cardboard and a tattered bed sheet, Mango made a second declaration.
So there is a declaration. Vincent Alexander tabled a motion in GECOM to have that declaration accepted. AFC and APNU have recognized that declaration, thus claiming victory. The COVID-19 maan, Nagamootoo, as recent as two Sundays ago in the Chronicle, repeated his Chronicle column accepting Mango’s tabulation. The COVID-19 maan has twice used statistics to show that APNU+AFC won by one seat, that is, 33 to 32.
So here is the scene – Mingo’s mingo has been recognized by the CEO of GECOM, APNU, AFC et al. Up comes Rum Jattan saying that he does not recognize the results so far based on any declaration. So Rum Jattan is rejecting Mingo’s mingo and the position of the COVID-19 man.
Dominic Gaskin must be smiling all the way to the bank. What more mental corrugation will this nation see tomorrow from the election conspirators?
