A family of Lot 35 Zorgenhoop, Blairmont, West Coast Berbice are still in a traumatized state after three men barged into their home Sunday night.
According to Sunita Ramotar, she was at home with four others including a 5-year-old when the incident occurred. The woman said she had just stepped out of the bath around 19:30 hrs when she was confronted by a masked gunman.
Kaieteur News understands that there were two other men armed with cutlasses who held the family hostage and demanded that they hand over cash and jewellery. Ramotar stated that she told the men she does not have anything and the gun-toting man pointed his firearm at the 5-year-old while the other two ventured to the upper flat. Within a few minutes, they returned and said they got what they wanted and left.
Ramotar revealed than when checks were made to see what the men had taken, it was found that her brother’s wallet that contained $25,000, his ID card and other documents were missing.
Police ranks arrived shortly after being summoned and launched an investigation. No one has since been arrested.
Just recently a business place was also robbed by three armed men, one brandishing a gun and two others with cutlasses.
